JOIN US

Calling all 5th-9th graders!!! Join us every Thursday for a weekly boys youth group! We'll have bible study/talks, fun games and dinner provided and feel free to invite your friends as well! Fill out the Connect form below if you’d like to join or if you’d like more info!

5/31 steam camp

Come join us for a special STEAM camp on 5/31, for your kids to learn about a variety of different subjects from UCSB students and alumni! Sign up here, and check out our workshops below!

  • Dive into the delicious world of molecular gastronomy! Explore the fascinating chemistry behind popping boba, those juice-filled balls that burst in your mouth, and how this chemical reaction plays a role in everything from boba toppings to blood clots to edible packaging. Learn about a cool science trick called "spherification" and how it uses an amazing natural polymer found in seaweed. Experiment with controlling the size and shape of your popping boba balls, all while enjoying a tasty blend of science and creativity!

  • Ready, set, race! In this hands-on workshop, following a brief introduction of the physics of race cars, young engineers will design and build their own rubberband–powered race cars, winding bands tight to store elastic energy and then letting them loose in thrilling head-to-head showdowns. They’ll test how different wheel sizes, extra weight, and various surfaces affect how far and fast their cars zoom, using a simple scoring system that balances distance with material use. After each race, teams will tweak their designs—adding more twists, adjusting wheel alignment, or reshaping the chassis—to outpace the competition in the Official Anchor STEAM Grand Prix. Through these quick build-test-improve cycles, students will intuitively grasp basic physics concepts like energy conversion, motion, and friction, all while having a blast racing against friends!

  • Get ready for a squishy, slimy adventure into the world of weird science! In this hands-on workshop, kids will become junior chemists as they dive into the magical making of Oobleck (a non-Newtonian fluid that acts like both a solid and a liquid!) and Gak (a stretchy, bouncy slime-like substance). Through messy experiments, wild textures, and colorful concoctions, they’ll explore the science of polymers, states of matter, and chemical reactions—without even realizing they’re learning!

It’s the perfect blend of play and education where curiosity rules, creativity flows, and clean-up is part of the fun. Come prepared to get your hands dirty and your mind blown!

WHAT IS ANCHOR YOUTH?

Anchor Youth is a youth ministry of acts2fellowship Santa Barbara. We're committed to discipling 5th-9th grade students and helping them navigate life, build Christ-centered friendships, and have a ton of fun along the way!

WHY ANCHOR?

We've all been there - those preteen and junior high years can feel like a raging storm... but our hope for our students is that through it all, they can be anchored by the truths in God's Word, allowing them to withstand even the strongest of waves and emerge firm in their faith!

"... so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ..."

~ Ephesians 4:14-15, ESV

why youth ministry?

If children are not reached with the gospel by age 13, the chances of their accepting the gospel after that point are greatly reduced.

- George Barna

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6
